Welcome to IBC 2025

Indian Biotope Championship 2025

🌿 Recreate. Respect. Represent. 🌊

What is a Biotope?

A biotope aquarium is a living replica of a natural aquatic habitat. It goes beyond just keeping fish in a tank—it recreates the look, feel, and balance of a real ecosystem found in the wild. Everything in the setup—fish, plants, rocks, driftwood, substrate, and even water conditions—is carefully chosen to reflect one particular location in nature.

The aim is not only aesthetic beauty but also education and conservation awareness. By replicating rivers, streams, ponds, and wetlands, aquarists showcase the diversity of aquatic life and the importance of protecting these fragile ecosystems.

In the Indian Biotope Championship, participants are challenged to present aquariums that:

Faithfully represent a natural habitat – with accurate species, layout, and water conditions.
Tell a story of nature – showing how life exists in harmony.
Inspire awareness – reminding us that conserving these habitats is essential for the survival of countless species.

A biotope is, in essence, a window into the wild—crafted inside glass.
